Vivekananda Rock Memorial was built between 1963 and 1970 in red and blue granite. It is situated on the top of a rock island, at a height of about 17 meters above sea level, covering an area of about 6 acres. Vivekananda Rock Memorial is about 490 meters offshore nearby the confluence of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean. In 1970, Swami Vireshwarananda, the president of Ramakrishna Mission, consecrated Vivekananda Rock Memorial and it was opened to the public by V.V.Giri, the then president of India.   1. Kanyakumari Temple:

The Kanyakumari temple is also known as the Kanyakumari Bhagavathiamman temple which is like a soulful attraction in Kanyakumari and must be visited without fail once you are here. This temple is a dedication to Goddess Kanyakumari, the reincarnation of Parvathi Devi, wife of Lord Shiva. This place is very peaceful and serene. Kumari Amman Temple was originally built by the kings of the Pandya Dynasty in the 8th century. It was later renovated by the Chola, Vijayanagara and Nayaka rulers. So this place has a very unique architectural design and has influences from almost all the eras.

  1. Wax Museum:

Wax Museum in Kanyakumari is towards the Baywatch of the city and must be seen atleast once. This place holds the wax statues of every great person from the history including Mahatma Gandhi. This place also holds statues of famous Hollywood actors and foreign personalities like Arnold Schwarzenegger.  Some say that this museum is like a counterpart or a replica of the museum in London and that is why you must not miss it at all.

  1. Padmanabhapuram Palace:

This palace is again of the most famous places to see in Kanyakumari. Being an ancient palace, this place holds many rich and unique artifacts and also holds the great responsibility of representing the Travancore Empire which existed a long time ago. A number of unique articles such as old Chinese jars, a variety of weapons, brass lamps, wood and stone sculpture, furniture and large mirrors, paintings, a wooden cot and a polished stone cot are housed in the Padmanabhapuram Palace for safekeeping. The Kerala Government has taken up the responsibility of maintaining this place with great care and that is why the palace is still standing with great conditions and special care.
