Popular stage light types available

There are found four different stage lighting types, which are mentioned below:

  • Flood lights: The beam’s size, shape and quality that are emitted from the flood lights are stated to be rigid. There are present no adjustment options in it. It is stated to be a common choice to illuminate the backgrounds or the skies. However, it is not desirable to highlight the actors. These lights can be operated as an individual light or probably be combined with 3-4 lights for offering that wonderful colour mix. They can also be found with a reflector for offering an even wash throughout the large space.
  • Beam lights: The stage lights are mostly designed for emitting conical beam. This will mean wider and farther spreading of the light. This light is said to remain consistent along with a beam, which in turn remains parallel, irrespective of the distance it gets thrown. Besides this, it offers much brighter light when compared to a spotlight with comparable strength. They are used to throw deep colours, since the light is able to create deep haze within the air.
  • Profile spots: Such type of lighting is preferred in those areas requiring precise control. These types can be combined along with round edge (iris diaphragm) and hard edge (shutters) for creating that desired size and shape. Moreover, it is possible to apply purpose made masks for creating much more unique shapes. Apart from this, the edge quality is found to be adjustable. This is achieved by creating some changes to lens settings. These types also may vary from variable beams to standard beams. The variable beam profile can prove to be great for those productions requiring using of plenty of beam angles and edge qualities. Adjustment ability of this type is quite faster and efficient. The other options present are profile spots having cool beam features, with an ability to enhance light output and low power usage.
  • Soft spots: They are much easily controlled and come with the capability to adjust beam size and shape. The emitted light quality is even edged and soft. It also has reduced light spillage outside its intended area. Such light type is found to be quite practical for short throws. It is unsuitable generally for long throws.

It is important for the person looking to buy stage lighting to undertake proper research to know more about the different types and their functionalities to make an event more attractive and successful.
